Taxonomy: Fam. Montiaceae// Genus:  Montia// Species: Montia arvensis Wallr. The classification is given according to The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Raab-Straube, 2018+).

Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Micevski, 1995) as Montia fontana subsp. chondrosperma (Fenzl) Walters. The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Raab-Straube, 2018+) is Montia arvensis Wallr.

Lifeform: Annual; therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Turkey, Transcaucasus and Syria according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (accepted as Montia fontana subsp. minor (C.C.Gmel.) Schübl. & G.Martens).

Habitat:  Mountain streams and other wet habitats.

Flowering period: Late spring – summer: MAY, JUN, JUL.
