Taxonomy: Fam. Lamiaceae// Genus: Nepeta// Species: Nepeta cataria L.

Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Turner in Tutin et al., (1972).

Habitat:  Moist places- near rivers and streams, edges of woods, ruderal areas.

Distribution: Native from South Europe to West Siberia, Japan (C. Honshu), West Himalaya and Pakistan according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Lifeform: Perennial – hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Flowering period: Summer: JUL, AUG.
