Determined according to the botanical key provided by Micevski (1993) as Populus alba var. nivea (Willd.) Dippel.
Distribution: Native from Central and South Europe to West Siberia, Xinjiang, West Himalaya and Pakistan; North Africa according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Rivers and other bodies of water, but it can also be found in forests away from rivers.
Lifeform: Perennial, tree; Mesophanerophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Flowering period: Spring: APR, MAY.
