Taxonomy: Fam. Simaroubaceae// Genus: Ailanthus// Species: Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle.

Determined according to the key to families provided in Tutin et al. (1976) and the botanical descriptions by Tutin in Tutin et al. (1968) – Simaroubaceae and Tutin in Tutin et al. (1968) –Ailanthus Desf.

Lifeform: Perennial, tree; Mesophanerophyte according to the  Raunkiær system.

Distribution:  Native to China; introduced elsewhere according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew). Not native – introduced in North Macedonia and the Osogovo region.

Habitat:  Urban and ruderal areas, roadsides, rocky terrains.

Flowering period: Late spring – early summer: MAY, JUN.
