Distribution: Native from Italy and Southeast Europe to Turkey according to distribution information provided by The Euro+Med Plant Base (source: Marhold, 2011+) and the Plants of the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Grasslands, pastures and open rocky terrains in the subalpine belt, from c. 1500 m altitude upwards.
Lifeform: Caespitose perennial; chamaephyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Flowering period: Spring to summer: MAY, JUN.
