Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Micevski (1995) and Ball et al. (1964 in Tutin et al.) as Alyssum saxatile subsp. orientale (Ard.) Rech. fil., Ann. Naturh. Mus. (Wien) 43: 200 (1929) = syn. Alyssum orientale Ard., Animad. Bot. Spec. Alt. 2: 32 (1764). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Marhold, 2011+) is Aurinia saxatilis subsp. orientalis (Ard.) T. R. Dudley in J. Arnold Arbor. 45: 394. 1964.

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from the Balkan Peninsula to Turkey according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) and The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Marhold, 2011+).

Habitat:  Found on rocks – rocky terrains, rock cliffs and river gorges.
