Lifeform: Perennial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native to Macaronesia, North Africa, Temperate Eurasia to West Asia, West Himalaya and Southeast Asia according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Open habitats – edges and clearings of forests and disturbed ground – roadsides and ruderal areas, from the lowland up to c. 1600 m altitude.
Flowering period: Spring – summer: APR, MAY, JUN.
