Distribution: Native to Sicilia, Balkan Peninsula to Afghanistan according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew). Also native to Ukraine and a wider area in the Eastern Mediterranean – to Egypt according to the distribution information provided by The Euro+Med Plantbase (source: Hörandl and Raab-Straube, 2015+).
Habitat: Usually found in moist places – near and along streams and river, clearings and edges of forests and woods.
Flowering period: Spring: APR, MAY.
