Erigeron annuus (L.) Pers. subsp. annuus

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Halliday (1976 in Tutin et al.).

Note: some specimens from Shtalkovichka River show tendency towards Erigeron annuus subsp. septentrionalis (Fernald & Wiegand) Wagenitz, yet a well defined population is not yet recorded.

Lifeform: Biennial; the first year of the lifecycle is vegetative (basal rosette stage). Flowering and fruiting occurs in the second year.

Distribution: Native from Canada to U.S.A., Nicaragua to Panama; introduced in Europe, parts of Asia and parts of North America according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Ruderal plant found near rivers, paths, and other ruderal areas.

Flowering period: Summer- autumn (JUL, AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV).
