Persicaria hydropiper (L.) Delarbre (syn. Polygonum hydropiper L.)

Taxonomy: Fam. Polygonaceae// Genus: Persicaria// Species: Persicaria hydropiper (L.) Delarbre.

Determined according to the botanical keys provided in Webb and Chater in Tutin et al. (1964) and Micevski in Micevski (1995) as Polygonum hydropiper L, Sp. PL. 361 (1753). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (Uotila, 2017+) is  Persicaria hydropiper (L.) Delarbre, Fl. Auvergne, ed. 2: 518. 1800.

Lifeform: Annual; Therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Northwest Africa, Temperate Eurasia to West and Central Malesia, Australia according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Found on the banks of rivers and streams and other wet and moist places.

Flowering period: Late summer – fall: AUG, SEP, OCT.
