Taxonomy: Fam. Orobanchaceae// Genus: Euphrasia// Species: Euphrasia pectinata Ten. The classification is given according to the Euro+Med Planbase (source: Marhold, 2011+).
Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Jovanović- Dunjić in Josifović (1974) as Euphrasia tatarica Fisher in Spreng, Syst. 2: 777 (1825). In Flora Europaea (Yeo in Tutin et al., 1972) and The Euro+Med PlantBase (Marhold, 2011+) this taxon is considered a synonym of Euphrasia pectinata Ten.
Both forms occur in the Osogovo region. Euphrasia tatarica Spreng differs from the typical form of Euphrasia pectinata Ten in having branched habit with several to multiple branches and is somewhat more tinged with purple.
Lifeform: Annual hemiparasitic herb; Therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native from Central and South Europe to Siberia and China according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Open habitats- grasslands and pastures. Found at c.1500 m altitude (Ponikva).
Flowering period: Summer: JUN, JUL.
