Pimpinella saxifraga L.

Taxonomy: Fam. Apiaceae// Genus: Pimpinella// Species: Pimpinella saxifraga L.

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Matevski (2005).

Species variability: In the Osogovo region occurs the variant P. saxifraga var. dissecta (Retz.) Spreng., Pl. Umbell. Prodr. 115 (1818). It differs from the typical form in having basal leaves with pinnatifid to 2-pinnatisect leaf segments.

Lifeform: Perennial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Siberia and Iran according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Subalpine pastures. Recorded in the “Carev vrv” peak region.

Flowering period: Summer (JUL).
