Determined according to the botanical key provided by Stearn in Tutin et al. (1980) as Allium scorodoprasum subsp. rotundum (L.) Stearn, Ann. Mus. Goulandris4: 178 (1978) and Tatić in Josifović (1975) as Allium rotundum L., Sp. Pl., ed. 2: 423. 1762. In The Euro+Med Plantbase (source: World Checklist of Selected Plant Families, 2010) this taxon is accepted at the species level.

Distribution: Native from Central and South Europe to East European Russia and Iran; Morocco according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
