Distribution: Native from East Europe to Temperate Asia according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew). Not native to the Osogovo region.
Habitat: Introduced species, cultivated as ornamental. It can be found cultivated and as an escape usually near settlements and ruderal areas.
Flowering period: Late spring: MAY.
