Allium albanicum Brullo & al.

Taxonomy: Fam. Amaryllidaceae// Genus: Allium// Species: Allium albanicum Brullo & al. The classification is given according to The Euro+Med PlantBase.

Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Brullo et al. (2019) and Tan and Strid (2025).

Note: Allium albanicum is a newly described species (Brullo et al., 2019), separated from the historically more widely treated Allium meteoricum Heldr. & Hausskn. ex Halâcsy (Stearn, 1980 in Tutin et al.) Recently, a number of species have been distinguished and described within this complex (Tan and Strid, 2025).

Lifeform: Bulbous perennial. Geophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Albania, Greece and Kosovo (Tan and Strid, 2025; Hashani et al., 2023; Brullo et al., 2019). From literature data, A. meteoricum was previously reported for North Macedonia – Suva Gora (Teofilovski, 2011) and Treska (Soška, 1938).

Habitat:  Hill pastures in the Zletovo volcanic area.

Flowering period: Summer (JUN, JUL).

Locality: Probishtip: Stari Grad region– hills between the Eshterec Stream and the Shtalkovichka River, 05.07.2026.
