Determined according to the botanical key provided in Flora Europaea Vol. 4 (Tutin et al., 1976) as Scabiosa rotata Bieb., Fl. Taur.-Cauc. 3: 102 (1819). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Domina, 2017+) is Lomelosia rotata (M. Bieb.) Greuter & Burdet in Willdenowia 15: 75. 1985.
Distribution: Native from the Balkan Peninsula to Turkmenistan and Afghanistan according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Open habitats- dry grasslands/ hill pastures, calcareous rocks.
Lifeform: Annual, therophyte according to the Raunkiaer system.
Flowering period: Late spring – summer: MAY, JUN.
