Taxonomy: Fam. Lamiaceae// Genus: Lamium// Species: Lamium garganicum L. // Subspecies: Lamium garganicum L. subsp. garganicum.
Variability: Determined according to the botanical key provided in Flora Europaea (Tutin et al., 1972) as Lamium garganicum subsp. laevigatum Arcangeli. In the Euro+Med PlantBase (source: World Checklist of Selected Plant Families, 2010) this taxon is considered a synonym of Lamium garganicum subsp. garganicum.
Lifeform: Perrenial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Lamium garganicum L. is native from the Mediterranean region to Central and West Asia; subspecies garganicum is native from the Mediterranean to Southeast Europe, parts of West Asia and Central Asia according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Edges of woods and forests. Found in the gorge of “Kochanska” River.
Flowering period: Late winter – spring: FEB, MAR, APR, MAY.
