Determined according to the botanical key provided in Flora Europaea (Tutin et al., 1972).
Lifeform: Annual; Therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native from Europe to Central Asia and W. Himalaya, Canary Islands, North Africa to N. Somalia (Plants of the World Online portal).
Habitat: A winter-spring ruderal. Found in the wild in sunny to semi-shady places in moist conditions, near streams and rivers. A very common weed found on disturbed ground- waste places, near roads, orchards, cultivated land, near and in settlements, urban areas, gardens. A common spring weed in the Osogovo region, frequently growing along with Veronica persica Poir.
Flowering period: Late winter thru spring (FEB, MAR, APR, MAY).
