Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Hansen (1976 in Tutin et al.).

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to North America – Central and East Canada to USA; introduced in North Africa, parts of Europe and Asia, Australia according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew). Not native to the Osogovo region – introduced species cultivated as garden plant for its edible tubers and found as an escape.

Habitat: River banks, water channels, near cultivated land and ruderal areas.

Flowering period:  Fall: SEP, OCT.

Locality: Kochani- Kochanska River. Date: 29.09.2024.
