Taxonomy: Fam. Compositae// Genus: Symphyotrichum// Species: Symphyotrichum squamatum (Spreng.) G. L. Nesom.

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Merxmüller, Schreiber and Yeo in Tutin et al. (1976) as Aster squamatus (Sprengel) Hieron., Bot. Jahrb. 29: 19 (1900). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (Greuter, 2006+) is Symphyotrichum squamatum (Spreng.) G. L. Nesom in Phytologia 77: 292. 1995.

Lifeform: Annual; therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to South America; introduced in parts of North America, Europe, Asia and Africa according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew). Not native to the Osogovo region – introduced species.

Habitat: Introduced species occasionally found as a adventive plant on disturbed ground.

Flowering period: Autumn: SEP, OCT.
