Rorippa prostrata (J. P. Bergeret) Schinz & Thell. (syn. Rorippa × anceps (Wahlenb.) Rchb.)

Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Valentine (1964 in Tutin et al.) and and Jovanović-Dunjić (1972 in Josifović).

Rorippa prostrata is considered to be a variable taxon of hybrid origin with formula R. amphibia x R. sylvestris, tending towards either of the species. The population recorded in Osogovo (“Shtalkovichka” River) consisted of plants with variable leaf shape, but generally tending towards R. sylvestris, with auriculate, less deeply divided leaves.

Lifeform: Perennial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from the Europe to West Siberia and Caucasus according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) – accepted as Rorippa × anceps (Wahlenb.) Rchb.

Habitat:  Recorded along “Shtalkovicka'” River, between the villages of Tursko rudari and Shtalkovica, at c. 600 m altitude.

Flowering period:  Spring – early summer: MAY, JUN.
